About Louise
Louise’s background working in press and campaigns for the RSPB, CSV (Community Service Volunteers) and Comic Relief undoubtedly shaped her areas of journalistic interest, but also helped her to realise that she wanted to be the person asking the awkward questions rather than the one flailing around for a corporately acceptable answer.
That meant retraining at City University to gain the BJTC diploma, after which she spent a year in Kosovo working with local journalists to ensure fair reporting of elections as part of encouraging a more independent, rigorous media.
Louise has freelanced for national, regional and trade press since 2000, and particularly adores commissioning editors who pay on time so that her home, iMac and favourite – ruinously expensive – pair of jeans don't get seized by the bailiffs. She lives just north of Bristol with her partner and two small monsters.
